MATCH REPORT | Tadley Calleva vs Bemerton Heath Harlequins

August 7, 2018

Tadley made it two wins out of two as Brett Denham's brace and Cameron George's strike saw the Romans secure a 3-0 win in their first game under the floodlights this season against Bemerton Heath Harlequins at Barlows Park.

A few changes were made to the starting line-up by manager Danny Dolan, who returned to take charge of the team, with Tom Walsh coming in for the injured Chad Abrams, Andrew Charsley coming in for Elliot Parker and Brett Denham making a start in place of Paul Coventry.

The visitors got the game underway, but didn't start in the fashion they would've liked, Danny Vickers having the first effort of the game from around thirty-yards out, the midfielders effort just going past the post after only three minutes.

It was then Brett Denham's turn to have a couple of opportunities, after being awarded a start by Danny Dolan this evening. The first chance came after a nice bit of interplay between the two strikers, Brett's effort being saved, with Elliot unable to follow up. The next saw a nice bit of play being worked down the left-hand side, involving the two centre-forwards once again, but Denham dragged his shot wide, the score remaining 0-0.

Bemerton then put their first shot on the board as a driven strike from outside the area was saved by Freddie Gee, with the shot stopper then pouncing on the ball to prevent a follow up shot.

After taking a kick to the face, resulting in some treatment for a bloody nose, Dallimore found himself on the wing, swinging the ball into Denham who couldn't quite divert it into the back of the net. This was then immediately followed by a chance for his strike partner after Pearson rounded the full-back and crossed into Elliot Amadieu who's header just went over the bar.

The Harlequins then had only their second significant chance of the game as they got the ball out wide and swung in a cross towards the free head of Callum Kitcher, but the wingers header didn't cause Freddie Gee any major problems.

As the game moved into the second half, Tadley really started to excite with their play in attacking third. This resulted in a goal just two minutes into the second period. A long throw from Parfitt was flicked on by the head of Shaun Dallimore leaving Brett Denham to chest the ball in, doubling his goal tally for the season.

Only minutes later, a calamity at the back for Bemerton saw their centre-half nearly head the ball into his own net, but the keeper Watch managed to recover in time and claim the ball preventing any potential embarrassment for his defender.

Amadieu's last action of the night saw him go past the full-back, laying the ball off to Aaron Pariftt, situated in the inside right channel, with the number ten having his shot cannon off the bar. What followed this was a free-kick by Sam Hamilton, but the wing-back's shot went straight into the arms of the Harlequins' keeper.

Parfitt was involved again as Tadley picked up their second goal of the night. The playmaker's bending cross from the left-hand side found it's way to the back post where Brett Denham was situated to gift the front man his, and the Romans, second goal of the game.

After the goal, Tadley kept Bemerton under a sustained period of pressure resulting in a goal for Cameron George. The striker capitalised on a poor header from the Harlequins centre-half finding himself through one-on-one with the goalkeeper. George casually heading the ball round the keeper and into the net, giving Tadley a three goal lead.

The pressure still continued with the Romans looking to bolster the scoreline. Shaun Dallimore had an effort that just went over the bar after a Danny Vickers cross and Denham had two opportunities that just deflected wide and onto the bar respectively to prevent the striker from securing a hatrick. This was the last action the game saw as Tadley ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.
